Top 5 Favorite Items from the Epcot Food and Wine Festival
With the 2018 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival coming up next month at Disney World, I want to share with you the best items at the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival. This festival is hands down one of my favorites at Disney World. If you ever wanted to try escargot in front of the Eiffel Tower or sip an Italian wine in front of Neptune's fountain, you can do it all in the same place, Epcot!
If you haven't heard of the event, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival has over 40 different booths with hundreds of different international and regional food and beverage choices. Wouldn't it be nice to try them all? Unfortunately, with each menu item costing anywhere from $3-$11, it's important to narrow it down by selecting a few to sample.
I have been to the festival the past three years and while most of what I tried was great, not all of my purchases were worth the money. So to help you choose some of the best items, I have compiled a list of my top 5 favorite items at the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival, including the cost of the item and booth name. I hope some of these items return to the 2018 fest! Enjoy!
1. Artist Palette of Cheese and Wine ($11.25)
- Wine and Dine Studio Booth
When I think of the Food and Wine Festival, this is what I picture: a wine and cheese pairing! While this item is one of the most expensive at the festival, it is such a good value for what you get. The palette comes with a trio of artisan cheeses paired with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Malbec wines. What a perfect way to start the festival!
2. Riesling Wine Flight ($6.50)
- Germany Booth
I'm a white wine gal, myself. So this was the perfect wine flight for me! The 3 Riesling wines differed in sweetness and were all delicious. For $6.50, this was well worth the value (side note: I definitely drank some of the first two wines before remembering to snap a pic. Hence, the uneven pours. Whoops!).
3. Twinings® Pumpkin Chai Tea Frozen Cocktail with Caramel Vodka ($9.75)
- Ireland Booth
This is quite possibly the BEST drink I've ever had! This milkshake-like drink, with its pumpkin and caramel goodness, is perfect for those hot, Florida days. While the portion size is a bit underwhelming, this is definitely a must try item in my book. After drinking it, I immediately began trying to find a recipe to make it at home. That's how good it is! (side note: I did, in fact, try to make it at home and it went very, very wrong. Guess I'll just have to wait until the next Food and Wine Festival!)
4. Spicy Hummus Fries ($5.00)
- Morocco Booth
5. Chocolate Baklava ($4.00)
- Morocco Booth
My numbers 4 and 5 on my list of the best items at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival are from the same country, Morocco!
Let's start with the hummus fries... Don't know what a hummus fry is? Don't worry, I didn't really either, but they are delicious! The fries are made of ground chickpeas and spices. They have a crispy outside and are full of flavor. The tomato and cucumber mixture, along with the creamy tzatziki sauce, provide a cool, refreshing balance to the spicy kick from the fries.
Last but certainly not least is the chocolate baklava. Okay, so who remembers the chocolate baklava from My Big Fat Greek Wedding? Ever since I heard of it from the movie, I've wanted to try it. The chocolate baklava from the Epcot Food and Wine Festival did not disappoint! This crispy, sweet dessert exceeded my expectations and was by far my favorite dessert at the festival!
So there you have them! My top 5 favorite items of the 2017 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. Hopefully these items return to the 2018 Food and Wine Festival, and I look forward to trying new items as well!
Until next time,
