Top 10 Activities On The Oasis of The Seas

While I’ve traveled on multiple cruises, this was my first cruise with Royal Caribbean. I’ve wanted to go on the Oasis of the Seas ever since I saw Shay Mitchell’s Instagram stories from the cruise (I’ve always been a fan of the show Pretty Little Liars.)

The Oasis of the Seas cruise ship is by far the largest ship I’ve ever been on! The ship boasts 7 distinct neighborhoods, 6 pools, a rock climbing wall, and even zip lining. The best part is that the majority of the activities on the ship are FREE!

With such a big ship though, it can be hard to navigate and select the best activities to try. So here is a list of my TOP 10 FREE THINGS to do on the Oasis of the Seas.

1. Ice Skating

While ice skating in the Caribbean might sound impossible, Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas makes it happen! I haven’t ice skated in a LONG time, and it was so much fun to try it out again. If you aren’t feeling up to skating yourself, be sure to check out the ice skating show, Frozen in Time!

Pro-tip: You have to wear long pants and socks to be able to ice skate. So be sure to add those to your packing list if you would like to participate.

2. Rock Climbing

For those adventure-seekers, the Oasis of the Seas features two rock climbing walls. As someone who has rock climbed before, I thought these walls were tough climbs. But I made it to the top on two different courses and had so much fun! Those with acrophobia will be happy to know they have a course that only goes half-way up the wall. So definitely try it out!

3. FlowRider

If you are not familiar with a FlowRider, it is essentially a surf simulator. The Oasis of the Seas offers two FlowRiders on the back of the ship: one for stand up surfing and the other for boogie boarding (knee-boarding).

I have never surfed a day in my life but still wanted to try it out. Even though I only stood up for like 3 seconds before I wiped out, it was one of my favorite things to do on the ship!

I recommend starting with the boogie boarding and then try the stand up surfing. Just be prepared though… YOU WILL WIPEOUT! But don’t worry everyone falls, and it doesn’t hurt…. most of the time.

Pro tip: Get there right when it opens and preferably on days at port, since the lines typically have very long waits for them.

4. Oasis of Dreams Dive Show

This was one of the shows that I was most excited to watch on the Oasis of the Seas, and the show definitely lived up to my expectations! Not only does the Oasis of Dreams feature many difficult dives, but they also have other entertainment during the show like trampoline tumbling and synchronized swimmers!

5. Cats Broadway Show

While I really enjoyed this hit broadway musical, Cats probably isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. However, since tickets are included in the price of your cruise, I definitely recommend watching at least the first act of the show! My favorite part was how the performers were so interactive with the audience.

Pro-tip: Get an aisle seat closest to the stage to get fully immersed in the show. You may just even make a feline friend!

6. Zip line

Why pay for a zip line excursion at the ports when you can zip line for free on the ship? This zip line is suspended over 9 decks and goes across the Boardwalk. Definitely try it out!

7. Meet Dreamworks Characters

One thing that I didn’t know about prior to cruising on the Oasis of the Seas was that they offer meet and greets with DreamWorks characters! Throughout the entire cruise, they offered chances to meet and take pictures with some characters from your favorite DreamWorks movies like: Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda! The best part was that there was basically no line or wait time!

On top of meeting the characters, the Oasis of the Seas also has a DreamWorks Move it! Move it! Parade. The parade features fun music and dancing from all your favorite characters.

8. Ride the Carousel

Along the Boardwalk, you’ll find some of your childhood faves like an ice-cream shop, hot dog stand, and even a carousel. Be sure sure to take a ride on the carousel to really feel like a kid again. Picking out the most beautiful horse to ride was very nostalgic!

9. Play Mini Golf

Another free activity is mini golf! Even if you’re bad at it, like me, playing a round is a fun way to spend your days at sea! For those who are actually good, be sure to keep an eye out for the mini golf competition they have.

10. Stroll Through Central Park

The Central Park section of the ship is beautiful both during the day and at night! The greenery is absolutely breathtaking, and it’s hard to believe you can find this on a ship. Looking for something relaxing to do at night? Stroll through Central Park and listen to the talented violinist.

Honorable Mentions:

Stuff Your Face Full of FREE Pizza

Sorrento’s offers all-you-can-eat pizza until 2 in the morning! So definitely take advantage of this. I may or may not have eaten pizza every day of my cruise…

Spend Some Time In The Jacuzzi

The Oasis of the Seas offers many jacuzzis throughout the ship, with 4 of them being adult-only. This infinity jacuzzi was my favorite. I loved looking out to the ocean!

There you have the best free things to do on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas ship! If you are looking to go on a cruise, I HIGHLY recommend this ship. It was a game changer for me, and look forward to my next cruise with Royal Caribbean!
