Hello Fandom Fashionista followers! Chelsey has been kind enough to hand over this week’s post to me, Amanda! I am a Disneyland local who makes it out to the parks at least once a week. If you follow my Instagram, Small World Girls, you know I LIVE for Disney snacks. So when Disneyland announced that they would include specialty themed food for Pixar Fest, I was all in.
While Pixar Fest is small in comparison to any of Walt Disney World’s festivals, it’s a welcomed addition to the parks! There are so many snack options it can be a bit overwhelming if you don’t have weeks to try everything. I have taken one for the team and tried EVERY SNACK at the limited time Pixar Fest. I have selected the best and worst snacks from the festival and am going to give you my reviews. Whether you are a local or are planning your trip out to Disneyland this summer, I hope my reviews help steer you in the right direction:
WORST: Up Themed Specialty Éclair 3/10
Location: Jolly Holiday Bakery | Price: $5.49
Don’t let this cute and colorful pastry fool you. While it may look sweet on the outside, the inside holds a different kind of surprise. This Éclair is filled with peanut butter and jelly crème filling. You heard me right. IT’S A PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY CRÈME FILLING. While I did feel a sense of nostalgia for my childhood eating this snack, I was quick to throw the pastry away after only two bites. The sweet exterior did not match the strangely sweet as well as savory center. I will admit that I should have done more research about this treat before tasting it. Regardless, this was a cute idea by Disney but was a complete fail in execution.
WORST: Iced Specialty Churro 5/10
Location: A Bug’s Land | Price: $5.75
Although this is the most Instagramable churro, it is NOT the tastiest. The churro itself was softer and thicker than a normal churro with flavors consisting of cinnamon with a hint of vanilla frosting. Even though the churro is dusted with cocoa flavored cereal, no chocolate flavors can be found here. It surprisingly tastes like a normal churro. Compared to the other new specialty churros around during Pixar Fest, this churro was a flop.
WORST: Adventure Tart 5/10
Location: Jolly Holiday Bakery | Price: $5.49
While this Nutella Filled Up Themed Pop Tart was not a complete fail, it does not compare to some of the other treats on this list. Even though this snack is categorized as a Pop Tart, it does not taste like one. It essentially tastes like two vanilla cookies with chocolate hazelnut filling. Definitely worth it if you need your Nutella fix at the parks (#relatable) but isn’t worth the price. Make it for yourself at home for a fourth of the price.
BEST: Luxo Ball Cake Pop 9/10
Location: Marceline’s in Downtown Disney, Trolley Treats in DCA, and at Pooh’s Corner and Candy Palace in Disneyland | Price: $5.49
This adorable Luxo Ball Cake Pop is by far the best cake style desert at Pixar Fest. It’s almost too pretty to eat. The gooey vanilla flavor is unlike any cake pop I’ve ever had! Sadly, this treat will be leaving the festival early on June 22nd but don’t worry, there are 3 other cake pop treats to try! BUT BEWARE. Not all Cake Pops are made equal here at Pixar Fest. Every character cake pop is a different flavor (ranging from chocolate to grape fillings) so be sure to ask a cast member before purchasing.
BEST: Coco(a) Churro & Carrot Cake Churro 10/10
Location for Coco(a) Churro: Frontierland Churro Cart | Price: $5.75
Location for Carrot Cake Churro: New Orleans Square Churro Cart | Price: $5.75
Both of these churros are by far the BEST CHURROS EVER CREATED BY MANKIND. In one corner, we have a vibrant orange and cinnamon devil with his trusty sidekick, a side of raisin-carrot crème cheese frosting. In the other, a chocolate on chocolate masterpiece with a sneaky kick of spice that just screams “Remember Me.” Both of these churros take the classic Disney churro and turn it up a notch. Even if you don’t like carrot cake, you will enjoy the carrot cake churro! The flavor is subtle enough not to overpower the classic base, but strong enough to remind you it’s there. Plus, who can hate a side of crème cheese frosting? The cocoa churro on the other hand is an overwhelming Chocolate flavor. I myself love chocolate and appreciated that it not only tasted like chocolate but also came with a side of chocolate dipping sauce. Regardless of your flavor preferences, you NEED to give these churros a try.
Honorable Mention: Pixar Pier Parfait 15/10
Location: Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats (Pixar Pier) | Price: $5.33
While not technically a part of the festival, this Pixar themed treat DESERVES to be recognized. Inspired by the lovable and not-at-all-abominable monster from Monsters, Inc., the Pixar Pier Parfait has quickly become my Disney snack stable! This non-dairy lemon sorbet and blue raspberry treat is light and refreshing. The mix between the soft serve texture and the blue slushy is incredible. The serving is large for Disney and can easily be shared with at least three people. At such a great price, size, and taste, it’s worth waiting in the long lines! Thank goodness this treat will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
If you’re heading to Disneyland Resort anytime from April 13th through September 3rd, you’ll have the opportunity to celebrate the friendship and fun of all of the Disney Pixar films and Characters! But most importantly, make sure you try all of the food.
Until next time… ✌
Enjoyed reading the blog post. I think I’ll have a cake pop!
