Review of Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Toy Story Land just opened at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. I was thankfully able to attend the grand opening weekend, and it was even more fabulous than I imagined. For those of you who are considering a trip to Toy Story Land, I decided to put together a review of this new land to see if it’s worth a trip.

Andy’s Backyard

Toy Story Land was created with the idea is that everyone is shrunken down to toy size in order to explore and play in Andy’s Backyard. The entire land is made up of toys! Walls made up of blocks, Uno card archways, and even monkeys in a barrel are just some of the few touches that make Toy Story Land so special. All of the joys from childhood come alive with all the vibrant colors and theming in Andy’s Backyard.

Slinky Dog Dash

The Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster is clearly inspired by a Hot Wheels car track with Slinky Dog being the ride vehicle. This may be my FAVE coaster ever because of how incredibly smooth it is as well as the theming! This ride has some of your favorite Toy Story characters like a giant Jessie stringing up lights and Wheezy, the penguin, singing karaoke. This ride is fun for people of all ages!

Also, there is a photo taken towards the end of the ride, so smile for the camera! 😉

Alien Swirling Saucers

Before I rode the Alien Swirling Saucers, I thought this ride wouldn’t be much fun; however, I was happily surprised by how much I loved it! Alien Swirling Saucers is a re-themed version of the Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree at Disney California Adventure. The idea behind Alien Swirling Saucers is that you have been dropped inside the claw machine and the little green aliens are trying to help you escape!

With fun music blasting and flashing lights, this ride felt more like a party! The upbeat energy and the spinning of the spaceships make this ride fun for everybody, not to mention getting to see our favorite green aliens! Be sure to ride this ride at night to really see the lights come out.

Toy Story Midway Mania

While the ride itself didn’t change from the 4D target-shooting ride, the que is bigger and better! The entrance to Toy Story Mania is just past the park entrance on your left. While part of the que is outside, there is a large portion that is inside and air-conditioned. Toy Story Mania is the ONLY fully covered and air-conditioned section in Toy Story Land (besides the restrooms). So if you’re looking for a way to escape the heat, I would recommend grabbing a drink from Woody’s Lunch Box and hopping in line for Toy Story Midway Mania.

There’s also a cute wall outside of the ride, so be sure to take pics!

Woody’s Lunch Box

Feeling hungry at Toy Story Land? Look no further than Woody’s Lunch Box. Sticking with the cohesive theme, this restaurant looks like Andy’s lunch box has been tipped over and the food is falling out.

Woody’s Lunch Box offers two separate menus: Breakfast and Lunch & Dinner. All of the food is meant to remind you of the food you used to eat as a child. For breakfast, I tried the S’mores French Toast Sandwich. I am OBSESSED with this delicious creation. Whoever thought of S’mores for breakfast is a genius!

Money-saving tip: Try the S’mores Sandwich off the kids menu. For $5.99, the meal comes with half of a S’mores Sandwich, potato barrels, a mandarine orange, and a small bottle of water.

Looking for an adult beverage? The only themed alcoholic drink at Woody’s Lunch Box is the Grown-Up’s Lemonade. Made of cherry vodka, lemonade, and black cherry puree, the Grown-Up’s Lemonade is a delicious, refreshing drink perfect for a day in the parks.

While I found that the line at Woody’s Lunch Box moved fairly quickly, they offer Mobile Ordering on the My Disney Experience App. So definitely take advantage of ordering your food for pick up!

Toy Story Merch

Inside Toy Story Land, you’ll find carts of merchandise that are themed as giant Fisher-Price vehicles. Green alien plushies, Slinky Dog ears, green alien headbands, and Buzz Lightyear bubble wands are just some of the awesome items for sale at the carts. For more Toy Story merchandise, be sure to visit the shops outside of Toy Story Land.

Meet the Green Army Men

Throughout the day, the green army men come out and take pictures with the guests. The best part is that there is no line, as there is no official meet and greet location. They even come out from time to time and play the drums. So be sure to keep an eye out for them!

There you have the inside look at the new Toy Story Land at Walt Disney World. After exploring what all this new land has to offer, I would definitely recommend planning a visit to Toy Story Land. The fully immersive experience along with the new rides and delicious food, makes this land certainly worth a visit!
