A Perfect Marriage of Geek & Chic?

Just saw this on NYLON, which then led me to The Lipstick Diaries, which in turn led me to Geekologie, which got this from NailChick27:

I never get fake nails (unless I break one completely off; happened once; I was blessed with long nail beds) so I can’t i would rock these, BUT MAN DO I WANT TO. Check out Nailchick27′s link at top for more awesome nail art. Such chicness for your geekness. Can’t handle it.

Countdown to Azkatraz: Arrivals and Updates

I’ve made it to sunny San Francisco! Well, more like breezy/sometimes chilly San Francisco, but you get the idea. I’m bringing you a couple of updates from the place to be this weekend: Azkatraz!

First of all, the weather is beautiful and sunny, but please be advised the nights can be extremely chilly and even though they sit around fifty degrees, light jackets and scarves are not out of the question. Pack accordingly if you’re still putting your stuff together.

The staff of Azkatraz would also want me to mention that as soon as you check in to the Parc 55, mention that you are attending Azkatraz so that it is noted on your hotel reservation. I can tell you firsthand, the hotel is beautiful and I’ll be sure to update everyone with a Twitpic from my hotel room as soon as I’ve checked in.

For those of you attending Wrock Around the Rock, you should know that there’s an additional show (free with your WATW wristband) at the Minna Gallery afterward. Tickets for those not attending WATW will be available on-site for $10.

Lastly, I should also mention you don’t have to be registered for Azkatraz to attend the Prison Break Ball. Have someone with a registration add extra ball tickets to their reservation online or inquire at Azkatraz check-in as early as Friday afternoon. Then be sure to don your finest robes and meet us on the dancefloor. I’ll have my FF camera on hand, so dress to impress!

Remember: there’s only 3 days left until Azkatraz! You can still register here and find all of the info on hp2009.org. If you’ll be at Azkatraz, please come say hi at either the Fashion Show or the Ball. I’d love to meet you!

Countdown to Azkatraz: Watching the Clock

While waiting for the clock to turn 12:01 am so I can be sitting with my Bertie Bott’s watching Half-Blood Prince like I want to be, I’ve decided to let you all in on a little secret: Azkatraz has a ton of awesome programming, including some that you may not have even heard about!

Take for example the “flock meetups.” There’s a meetup for Mugglecast fans, one for arts fans (affectionately called “Artzkatraz”, and so many others. You can even start your own flock if you wish.

Did you know that Erin Pyne of HP Orlando and wrock act House of Black has a new book about the fandom out? I mean, she’s an author, musician, snazzy dresser and a dolphin trainer; is there anything this woman can’t do? She’s having a signing and reading from her new book at Azkatraz.

Not to mention there’s wrockshows, acoustic sets, the galleries, the vendor room, and what I’m sure will be more and more surprises along the way. I’m personally looking forward to the Prison Break Ball a tremendous amount!

Remember: there’s only 5 days left until Azkatraz! You can still register here and find all of the info on hp2009.org. Don’t forget to add “#dumbledore” to all of your tweets at your midnight screenings tonight and tomorrow. Visit What Would Dumbledore Do? for more info on the HPA‘s Dumbledore Twitter Takeover. Cheers!

Meet Me In ‘Frisco: A Countdown to Azkatraz 2009

As I sit researching San Francisco and all it will have to offer while I visit for Azkatraz 2009, I’m excited to think of all the awesome. The City by the Bay will host HPEF’s 2009 offering to 1,000 Harry Potter fans from across the globe. Whether or not you’re attending, FandomFashionista is your ticket to the symposium, as I’ll be covering informal programming, the History of Wizarding Fashion Show, and much more.

As a special treat, this week FF will feature the Countdown to Azkatraz. (affectionately known on Twitter as #icanhAzkatraz; thanks Alex!) Each day until July 18 (when Azkatraz officially begins), I’ll be bringing you a special pre-Azkatraz post on several exciting topics ranging from programming at the con, summer merch fashions, Half-Blood Prince film premiere coverage, and more.
