A star-studded audience arrived for Eric Kim’s latest for Monarchy Collection. In the front row were the likes of Lizzie Grubman, designer Jack Mackenroth, and supermodel/TV personality Janice Dickinson. The collection, however, was not so star-studded. More like all over the map! Kim mixed every fabric under the sun with something draped and asymmetrical, an overwhelming theme for this week so far.
Our favorites early on were a strapless pleated blue floral taffeta dress and a white silk jersey torso dress, but the middle of the show seemed very confusing. We weren’t sure where all of the metallic linen was doing there, but we hoped that it would be replaced by something more exciting.
Our prayers were answered with blue suede paper bag shorts and a tobacco leather draped jacket. A final wow factor arrived when the second to last look featured a navy faille tuxedo bolero, something every woman in town will want for her closet.
